The Stone House Project (working title)

$50,000.00

We think it may be possible to build (or maybe grow) "stone" houses that are carbon negative and extremely resistant to natural disasters like fire and tornado, out of some combination of bacterially grown bricks like BioMason makes, self-healing concretehempcrete, or Roman cement inoculated with the either the BioMason bacteria or the self-healing concrete bacteria (they might be the same for all I know)? Maybe even fed into the Apis Cor or 3DWASP (they did a earthen build already which is amazing) hopper so as to be 3D printed. We may merge this project with the Open Sourcing the Living Building Challenge project

The most radical version of this idea would be to basically build a sand castle and either inoculate it in advance or spray it with a strain of bacteria like Bacillus pseudofirmus DSM 8715 to create a limestone house, which could then be clad in whatever material the homeowner wants to achieve their desired aesthetic.
